Sam Massey cracks me up!His guitar playing is clean, twangy, and precise. His vocals are pointed at you and entertaining as hell. His stage presence is compelling. Sam is the only one I know that does a great impersonation of Art Donovan! For that reason alone, he has my everlasting respect!

Albert Storo is another of our multi-instrumentalists. Like me, he makes his living on another instrument. He's a great drummer for many bandleaders (sometimes playing my songs with The New Jack Hippies), but Albert puts on his own show with a guitar in his hands.

Me!I'm a bass player by trade, but there are many of us multi-instrumentalists at the jam. There were two bass players in the house during the thirteen years that Roger Tausz and I lived together, so I picked up the guitar so we could jam and write together. I'm still pickin' it up, espescially when Roger comes to jam. Here is one of my favorites of the songs we wrote & recorded back then, titled
"What You Give, What You Give", as well as a recording from the bluesjam... Willie Dixon's"When the Lights Go Out"

Greg Allman dropped by one night, with roadies and his Hammond B-3 organ. This photo, in the next days Houston Chronicle, helped make a lot of people aware of the jam!

To the best of my knowledge, he hasn't been to Dan's yet, but Joe 'Guitar' Hughes will show up now and then at The Big Easy.Tom and Joe try to do 10-12 nights per year, so The Big Easy is one of Joe's home clubs. I've had a blast on each occasion I've had the thrill to play bass with Joe Guitar. He's another one of those guys that play all styles, although he's internationally known as a bluesman. -

Eric Dane plays with a lot of feeling.I don't know the guy, but we've met onstage several times and the music was sweet. He also plays drums and bass...and who knows what else he plays that I haven't seen! Eric's band,Carolyn Wonderland and the Imperial Monkeys, record for Justice Records, and have been real roadhounds lately....gds10/98
